Empathia Jazz Duo Presents Portraits In Songs at Take Five - Genuine Music Club
In the 20th century the line between the pen on the score and the brush on the canvas began to vanish as improvisation took hold of both painting and music internationally in a creative period that gave us classic and timeless songs.
The eMPathia Jazz Duo inspired by these two art forms present their show with a varied repertoire in Italian, English, Portuguese and French that approaches some of these classic compositions through timbres and colors, structure and emotions, freely interpreting them to such a degree that a frame around each one would be a fitting stage.
Be it the sweet and simple postcard-like ''Every Time We Say Goodbye'' by Cole Porter, or the complex harmonic landscape of Ennio Morricone's "Metti Una Sera A Cena", be it the shades of blues in Edith Piaf's "L'Hymne A L'Amour", the explosion of bright colors in "Sacumdi, Sacumda" or soft sunset hues of A.C. Jobim's "Chega De Saudade", these many moods all share an architectural approach to arranging that includes the abstract and the spontaneous in the otherwise familiar settings of jazz, swing, soul and bossa nova uniting the captivating and enchanting voice of Mafalda Minnozzi with the orchestral yet essential guitar accompaniment of Paul Ricci.
